Orange County, FL – Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs will hold a ceremony on Thursday, August 14, 2014, at 1 p.m. to highlight the efforts of Girl Scout Junior Troop 967 whose civic involvement led to the installment of a new traffic signal near Cypress Springs Elementary. Mayor Jacobs will officially activate the traffic light at the intersection of Cypress Springs Parkway and Dean Road. She will be joined by District 4 Commissioner Jennifer Thompson and members of the troop.
Girl Scout Junior Troop 967 contacted county officials and highlighted the need for the signal at the intersection, which sees high pedestrian traffic, particularly during the school year.
The traffic signal activation ceremony will include remarks by Mayor Jacobs, Commissioner Thompson, and members of Troop 967. The event will conclude with a "flipping-of-the-switch" to officially light the signal.
