Orange County, FL – Mayor Teresa Jacobs and the Orange County Neighborhood Preservation & Revitalization Division will kick-off this year’s Adopt a Fire Station for the Holidays on Monday, October 13, 2014. This year 42 fire stations may be adopted by neighborhood groups, businesses, nonprofits, families, and local high schools. Those who adopt a station can host a holiday lunch or dinner, provide holiday decorations, help with landscape beautification or volunteer for other projects.
Mayor Jacobs created the initiative in 2012 so citizens could demonstrate their appreciation for the men and women in Orange County’s Fire Rescue Department. During the holiday season, many firefighters are on the job or on call and are unable to spend time with their families. The Adopt a Fire Station activity makes the holidays special for firefighters as they protect and serve our communities.
