John Young Parkway, between State Road (SR) 528 to the Florida's Turnpike Bridge is being studied. This study includes a detailed analysis of the Sand Lake Road Intersection. John Young Parkway is a principle roadway in Orange County. Currently, 100,000 vehicles per day traverse through this intersection.
This segment of John Young Parkway is currently heavily congested which cause delays both in the morning and in the evening. Current traffic volumes average 59,000 vehicles per day, with approximately 4,400 vehicles during the peak hour, which generally occurs between 4:45 and 5:45 pm. The majority of the delays can be attributed to congestion at the intersection of John Young Parkway and Sand Lake Road.
Orange County has identified the need to improve John Young Parkway and consider alternatives to improve the Sand Lake Road intersection.
The types of improvements to be studied as part of the John Young Parkway Engineering Study process include:
“RCA” stands for Roadway Conceptual Analysis. It’s the process through which Orange County confirms the need to improve a road. At the heart of all Orange County RCAs you’ll find a fascinating mixture of scientific data and feedback from residents. With the approval of the Board of County Commissioners, an RCA project moves forward with final design, right-of-way acquisition and construction.
