Visit Orange County's Green PLACE properties to experience nature up close. Take your visit even further by taking part in the Green PLACE Hiking Spree!

How to Participate

Visit Orange County's Green PLACE properties and hike any of the 40 trails. Record your hike to earn a Green PLACE achievement and reward! The more trails you hike and log, the more rewards you earn!

The 2026–2027 Hiking Spree starts on National Public Lands Day (September 26, 2026) and runs through Earth Day (April 22, 2027).

Green PLACE Hiker

Hike three Green PLACE trails and earn a limited-edition vinyl sticker.

Green PLACE Trail Leader

Hike ten Green PLACE trails and earn the sticker and your choice of a Green PLACE Hiking Spree pin or hiking stick medallion.

Green PLACE Trail Warrior

Hike fifteen or more Green PLACE trails and earn all three rewards, including a limited-edition Green PLACE Hiking Spree bandana.

Earn Rewards

After completing your hikes during the Green PLACE Hiking Spree, submit your completed form by May 1, 2027, to receive your rewards and celebrate your achievements.

Green PLACE Property User Rules

• Open sunrise to sunset
• Motor vehicles are prohibited
• Pets must be leashed at all times
• Security is not provided; use facilities at your own risk
• Access the preserve only through designated entry points
• Dispose of all trash in trash receptacles
• Smoking is not permitted on Green PLACE properties
• Portions of this property may be temporarily closed for active land management
• All vegetation, animals, facilities and cultural resources on this preserve are protected. It is unlawful to remove, destroy, deface, mutilate or harass any of these resources.
• Helmets are recommended for all equestrian riders and required for riders under 16 years of age.
• Horses have the right-of-way and are permitted only on designated trails.
• Proof of a negative Coggins test must be provided upon request.
