Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs encourages citizens to engage in their local county government through The Orange County Experience, an interactive series designed specifically for local citizens. The 12-week series of classes kicks off in the fall and provides local citizens and community leaders the opportunity to learn more about Orange County and the vital services that the County provides – from technology and infrastructure, to neighborhoods and health and family services.
During the series, participants have the opportunity to meet County staff and take tours of various County facilities and departments, including the Orange County Convention Center, Fire Rescue, Parks & Recreation and much more. Graduates of the program often go on to serve on county citizen advisory boards and continue their service through other volunteer opportunities.

The Orange County Experience is designed to educate Orange County citizens who are interested in learning more about their county government. This program will provide citizens with information that will enable them to better understand and navigate county operations and services.
- This is a 12-week citizens program with the first class starting on Friday, August 26, 2016 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Orange County Government Administration Center, located at 201 S. Rosalind Avenue.
- Applicants must be at least 18 years-old and be a citizen/resident of Orange County to participate.
- Seating is limited. The deadline for registration is Friday, August 12, 2016.
