Orange County is pursuing several planning initiatives designed to ensure roadways and other transportation facilities are in place or planned to serve motorists, bicyclists, transit riders, pedestrians, and freight transport, often called "multimodal planning." To further these efforts and plan for future transportation needs, Orange County Transportation Planning recently completed Phase I of the Orange County Multimodal Corridor Plan.
Phase 1 of the Plan reviews policy and design aspects of Orange County's current and future transportation network, including analysis of the network's safety, livability, technology, economy, and amenity functions and needs. Phase 2 of the Multimodal Corridor Plan is underway and will develop a year 2040 multimodal network for Orange County, including modeling, cost estimates, and phasing. Phase 3 will identify specific multimodal corridors for implementation, including transition planning and funding options.
