Save Landfill Space

Tips to reduce and reuse waste

Why Recycle?

Orange County requires that all residential and commercial waste generators in Orange County recycle.

Using recycled materials instead of raw materials in the manufacturing process produces less pollution and requires less energy.

When you recycle, you help extend the life of the County’s landfill and preserve landfill space—which can reduce future disposal costs.

How To Save

Reduce
Quick ways to reduce the amount of waste you generate:

  • Use rechargeable batteries.
  • Replace plastic bags with canvas tote bags.
  • Avoid the use of disposable products when possible.
  • Pack lunches in reusable containers and use a refillable water bottle.
Reuse
  • Don’t throw away items that can be used by someone else. Have a yard sale or look for local charities and thrift shops that can put your old items to good use and may be able to offer tax deductions. Some charities may provide convenient pickup services.
