Orange County Parks and Recreation has the following fun events scheduled:

Registration is open for Kelly Park's annual Cardboard Canoe Regatta!
  • Teams of five (limited to 16 teams) can build and race a cardboard and duct tape canoe at Kelly Park's Rock Springs on Saturday, October 12, cost: $50/team. Registration closes Friday, October 4 at 5 p.m. "Boat artists" younger than 12 years are not included in team member count but cannot race; artists and participants ages 12 or older are included in the team member count. All canoes must be built from 8:30 a.m. to noon, using only cardboard and duct tape provided on event day. Teams race their canoes in the clear, chilly 68-degree waters of Rock Springs beginning at 1 p.m., with prizes awarded to Race Winner, Crowd Favorite and the hilarious Most Spectacular Sinking! Fort Christmas Barnyard Banter: Picking and Packing - Citrus Industry History, October 19
  • All ages are welcome to join in the new Barnyard Banter program at Fort Christmas Historical Park on Saturday, October 19 from 1-2pm! Waterleigh Park South Community Meeting #2, November 12
  • The Orange County Parks and Recreation Division and District 1 Commissioner Nicole Wilson invite you to attend the second in-person community meeting to discuss survey results for amenities for the five-acre Waterleigh Park South on Tuesday, November 12, 6-7 p.m., at Water Spring Middle School, 17000 Water Spring Blvd., Winter Garden. Shingle Creek Trail Phase 4 Community Meeting #2, November 20
  • The Orange County Parks and Recreation Division and District 6 Commissioner Mike Scott invite you to attend the second in-person community meeting to discuss survey results for Shingle Creek Trail Phase 4 on Wednesday, November 20, 6-7 p.m. at Barnett Park Recreation Center. Learn about the options of connecting our Pine Hills Trail to the south with this new segment, across Colonial Drive / State Road 50, to the city of Orlando's segment of the Shingle Creek Trail... and beyond.
