Join a Workgroup
Preventing substance use disorders and supporting access to treatment and recovery services is a community effort. In Orange County, a coalition of volunteers representing different sectors within our community work together to create prevention, treatment, and recovery strategies that foster innovation and promote community wellbeing.
How to Get Involved
Getting involved in a coalition workgroup may seem overwhelming—that is why we are here to help you. A Drug-Free Office staff member will assist you in finding the best fit for your talents and expertise. We will help you decide how you can best support our mission. For example:
- Sustainers are workgroup members who attend meetings monthly and are involved in the day-to-day work of the coalition.
- Supporters are workgroup members who are not able to attend meetings regularly but are familiar with the work of the coalition and support prevention efforts.
- Strategic workgroup members may not be necessarily aware of the day-to-day work of the coalition but are community leaders who may need to be contacted occasionally regarding specific prevention issues.
