Construction on Orange County Parks' Magnolia Park Eco-tourism Center and other amenities is underway. While the park remains open, the area between Lake Apopka and Binion Road, including the boat ramp, pavilion and Lake Apopka Loop Trailhead, are CLOSED until further notice. The new amenities will include an eco-tourism building, restroom facilities, pier for fishing and mooring, dock, pavilion, inclusive playground, interpretive signage for Lake Apopka and parking. See the conceptual plan for details.

While Magnolia Park eco-tourism center and other amenities are under construction, visitors can park at 2850 Lust Road, Apopka, and enter through the Wildlife Drive entrance (a small gate that will be open for cyclists and hikers). Also note that construction has begun on Lake Apopka Loop Trail that will cause sections on Marsh Rabbit and North-South Roads to be closed to all public access intermittently as needed Mondays through Saturdays (signs will be posted).

Additional parking for Lake Apopka Loop Trail (map):
    • North Shore Trailhead, 24600 County Road 448A, Mount Dora.
    • Green Mountain Scenic Overlook and Trailhead, 20700 County Road 455, Minneola.
    • Clay Island Trailhead, 22526 Carolyn Lane, Astatula. The North Shore property has a marked white trail suitable for hiking, biking and horseback riding (six-mile loop) on Clay Island, with four observation towers, including one overlooking the west shoreline of Lake Apopka. There is an additional 2.6-mile trail (the red trail) for biking, hiking and horseback riding.

On February 20, 2014, Phase 2 of the Lake Apopka Loop Trail opened, from Magnolia Park to the Lake County line.

Stop by the Lovell's Landing State Historic Marker, located on the trail in Magnolia Park, to learn more about William Lovell's (1828 - 1903) role in Apopka's history.
