Hurricane Milton made landfall on Florida’s west coast as a Category 3 storm on October 9, 2024. In January 2025, The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced an allocation of $12 billion to states and local governments for major disasters that took place in 2023 or 2024. Orange County expects to receive a $33,357,000 allocation from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) to assist with recovery and mitigation efforts related to Hurricane Milton.
