Orange County offers Medical, Limited Purpose, and Dependent Daycare Flexible Spending Accounts that allow employees to set aside pre-tax dollars into an account that they can use to pay for qualified expenses, thus saving on taxes!

The County provides disability coverage at 60% of your salary, up to a maximum of $10,000 a month.  Benefits are available after a 180 days waiting period (following disability).

Employees may choose to upgrade their disability coverage to short-term disability offering shorter waiting periods, ranging from 15 to 120 days (following disability).  Disability benefits are available after the waiting period is met and all available leave balances are exhausted.

• County paid basic life Insurance equal to 100% of your annual salary
• Built in accidental death and dismemberment protection of up to two times your total life insurance amount
• Additional Life Insurance may be purchased up to five times your annual salary in $10,000 increments
• Basic and additional life (total life) may not exceed $500,000
• Spouse life insurance may be purchased  in $10,000 increments up to 50% of the employee's total life amount
• Child dependent life insurance of either $5,000 or $10,000 may be purchased, up to 50% of the employee's total life amount

Employees can pay for most benefits on a pre-tax basis, thereby reducing their taxable earnings and increasing their take-home pay.
