Register through September 28 for Kelly Park's 12th Annual Cardboard Canoe Regatta! This fun-filled event will be held on Saturday, October 6, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., with the race starting at 1 p.m.
Registration open now through September 28.
Event day: on Saturday, October 5, boat building starts at 8:30 a.m. with race at 1 p.m.
Teams of five may register to build and race a cardboard and duct tape canoe; "boat artists" may be under 12 and are not included in team member count. Racing participants must be 12 years or older.
Rules: all canoes must be built in 3.5 hours using only cardboard and duct tape provided by race coordinators on event day. Then teams race their canoes in the Rock Springs River; complete list of rules available by emailing KellyCamping@ocfl.net. Prizes awarded to: Race Winner, Crowd Favorite and Most Spectacular Sinking.
Registration cost: $50 per team; pre-registration is required and limited to 16 teams. Call Kelly Park at 407-254-1902 or register in person.
Activities offered throughout the day for family and friends include face painting, giveaways, games and music. Bring a picnic lunch and make a day of it. Other than park admission fees, there?s no charge for cheering on the teams!
Park admission for 1-2 passengers is $3; 3-8 passengers, $5; and for each additional person, walk-ins, motorcycles or bikes, $1.
