Our citizens and visitors rely on varied modes of transportation to live, work, and play. A reliable and balanced intermodal transportation system is critical to the economic livelihood of our community. Orange County Government is now coordinating with several Regional Transportation Partners to plan, develop, and operate this transportation system.
FDOT, the Florida Department of Transportation, plans and manages all modes of the State’s transportation system including State roads and Florida’s Turnpike System.
The Greater Orlando Aviation Authority operates the Orlando International Airport and the Orlando Executive Airport with a mission of advancing Orlando and Central Florida as the premier inter-modal transportation gateway for global commerce.
I-Ride is an iconic tourist-oriented trolley that operates in the International Drive Resort Area. This service is managed by the International Drive Master Transit and Improvement District, which is an innovative public-private partnership between Orange County, the City of Orlando, and the International Drive business community.
LYNX, the Central Florida Regional Transportation Authority, provides bus transit service for Orange, Seminole, and Osceola counties. This includes 63 local bus routes including the LYMMO downtown circulator, FastLink commuter service, Xpress service from Orlando to Volusia and Lake Counties, and ACCESS LYNX which serves disabled customers.
MetroPlan Orlando is the regional transportation planning agency for Orange, Osceola, and Seminole Counties. It provides the forum for local elected officials, their staff, and industry experts to improve transportation options for Central Florida.
The Central Florida Expressway Authority operates the vast majority of Orange County’s toll roadway system. CFX is working in partnership with FDOT on the Wekiva Parkway project, which will complete the beltway around the Orlando area.
SunRail, Central Florida’s first commuter rail transit system, will operate along a 61-mile north/south corridor from Volusia County to Osceola County. Orange County will be served by stops in Maitland, Winter Park, Orlando, Sand Lake Road, and Meadow Woods. Phase One (1) of the SunRail system will begin operating in 2014.
