Richard Crotty Parkway

Richard Crotty Parkway will be a new four-lane roadway with sidewalks, bicycle lanes, roadway lighting, and median landscaping.

The project will be constructed in three segments:

• Segment 1A: S.R. 436 to Goldenrod Road.
• Segment 1B: Goldenrod Road to Harrell Road.
• Segment 2: Harrell Road to Dean Road. (C.R. 425)

Stormwater management for both sections will be provided by wet detention facilities.

The road’s name was changed from the East-West Road to Richard Crotty Parkway by the Board of County Commissioners on December 14, 2010.

The 9.5 mile Richard Crotty Parkway was originally identified as a future transportation need in a 1998 study.

Richard Crotty Parkway is being designed and constructed to provide a third east-west route for the eastern portion of Orange County. The new roadway is designed to ease congestion and improve the level of service on SR 50 (Colonial Drive) and University Boulevard, the two existing major east-west roadways in eastern Orange County.

The project is at 100% design. Plan updates and right-of-way acquisition are ongoing. Construction of segment 1A is funded through Orange County's INVEST program. In 2015, Mayor Jacob's "INVEST" initiative supplemented funds within the 5 year Capital Improvement Program (CIP) to enable right-of-way acquisition and construction of segment 1A. Right-of-way acquisition and construction funding are not available within the CIP for segment 1B and segment 2. The projects will be on hold until additional funding is made available.
