Orange County Government has initiated a Roadway Conceptual Analysis (RCA) Study for the widening of a segment of Chuluota Road. The segment to be studied is from Colonial Drive (SR 50) to Lake Pickett Road, a length of approximately 1.9 miles.
The purpose of the study is to assess and recommend roadway improvements anticipated to improve safety and traffic flow in the area. The study considers the social and environmental impacts of adding travel lanes and other features such as, but not limited to, drainage conveyance and treatment improvements, a segment of the East Orange Trail and sidewalk, raised medians, lighting, landscaping and intersection improvements.
The study is anticipated to begin in Spring 2021 and is expected to be complete within 2022.
The County will conduct a comprehensive public involvement program which will include two community meetings and hold both a workshop and a hearing with the Local Planning Agency (LPA) and then with the Board of County Commissioners (BCC). Additionally, the County may hold informational meetings for small groups if requested. The meetings and hearings will be conducted via the World Wide Web or in person.
At the first community meeting the County looks forward to receiving comments from the meeting participants on the preliminary preferred improvements. All comments will be reviewed and considered for implementation. During the second community meeting the County will present a recommendation for the proposed roadway improvements. Public comment will also be accepted during this meeting.
Following the community meetings, the public will have additional opportunities to provide comments during the public hearings with the Local Planning Agency and the Board of County Commissioners.
Each community meetings and hearings including the location whether virtual or in-person, will be advertised at least two (2) weeks before each date through the study newsletters (mailings and emails), newspaper advertisements (Orlando Sentinel and El Sentinel), study website and County press releases.
