Orange County Government has initiated a Roadway Conceptual Analysis (RCA) Study for the widening of a segment of Chuluota Road. The segment to be studied is from Colonial Drive (SR 50) to Lake Pickett Road, a length of approximately 1.9 miles.
The purpose of the study is to assess and recommend roadway improvements anticipated to improve safety and traffic flow in the area. The study considers the social and environmental impacts of adding travel lanes and other features such as, but not limited to, drainage conveyance and treatment improvements, a segment of the East Orange Trail and sidewalk, raised medians, lighting, landscaping and intersection improvements.
The study began in Spring 2021 and is expected to be completed in the Spring of 2025. In addition to completing the RCA, Phase 3 Intersection Control Evaluation (ICE) was conducted on each of the intersections and on the corridor.
The County will conduct a comprehensive public involvement program which included four community meetings and a workshop and a hearing with the Local Planning Agency (LPA) and then with the Board of County Commissioners (BCC). Additionally, the County may hold informational meetings for small groups if requested.
