The Orange County portion of the Shingle Creek Trail will be approximately 9.3 miles once fully constructed. The Trail is generally located in the south/south central part of the County.

In April 2011 President Obama launched America’s Great Outdoors initiative that saw the Department of the Interior select the Shingle Creek Trail to receive national recognition in a document titled “America’s Great Outdoors Fifty State Report.” This multi-use recreational trail is being developed through cooperation of local governments including Orange County, Osceola County, the City of Orlando and the City of Kissimmee.

Orange County’s portion of the trail includes the following:

• Phase 1: West Sand Lake Road south to Taft-Vineland Road
  • Segment 1: Completed – West Sand Lake Road south to Destination Parkway.
  • Segment 2: Destination Parkway to S.R. 528 and Segment 3: S.R. 528 to Taft-Vineland Road - Construction began on October 19, 2026. These segments will complete a key connection between the existing Phase 1, Segment 1 at Destination Parkway and the existing Phase 2 at Taft Vineland Road, creating a continuous extension of the Shingle Creek Trail from Orange-Osceola County Line to Sand Lake Road (S.R. 482).
• Phase 2: Completed – Taft-Vineland Road south to Town Loop Boulevard.
• Phase 3: Completed - Town Loop Boulevard south to the Osceola County line.
• Phase 4: will extend the trail from the existing Pine Hills Trail just north of Alhambra Drive to the City of Orlando’s Shingle Creek Trail network to the south. Design efforts are currently underway, and construction is anticipated to begin in 2028.

When fully constructed, Shingle Creek Trail will stretch 32 miles through one of Florida’s heavily urbanized metropolitan areas. This trail will become part of an extensive regional trail network that extends from Osceola County in the south through Orange County and north into Lake and Seminole Counties. In its entirety, it will serve as a key north-south connector in a larger regional trails network that includes the Coast to Coast Trail, West Orange Trail, Lake Apopka Loop Trail, Wekiva Trail, South Lake Trail, Cross Seminole Trail, and Seminole Wekiva Trail.

Completing the Shingle Creek Trail will significantly increase outdoor opportunities for bikers and pedestrians in urban central Florida.

• Phase 2 – Complete and Open to the public.
• Phase 3 – Complete and Open to the public.
• Phase 4 – Design in progress. Construction anticipated in 2028.

Note: The completion of the incomplete phases is subject to availability of construction funding.
