There are many interesting facets of keeping our lakes clean and healthy. Every year Orange County residents look forward to enjoying many activities on Orange County lakes and rivers.
Here’s some info for you to BE SMART:
Orange County uses the Orange County Water Atlas to store all kinds of information relating to our 600+ lakes and rivers. Learn more about your lake and its water quality plus lots of other cool things.
The Environmental Protection Division (EPD) reviews water quality data to ensure your lakes and rivers are staying healthy. When a decline in water quality is seen, EPD works with stakeholders to develop projects that will improve the water quality.
The State and County work together doing projects on lakes that will improve water quality. This is called a Basin Management Action Plan. This plan is required under the Federal/State Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) program.
