Headline 2: Due to the hurricane, all Orange County Parks and Recreation sites, programs and facilities and EPD Green PLACE properties will be CLOSED Wednesday, October 9 and Thursday, October 10. Parks and Recreation sites will re-open after being checked for damage and debris, and deemed safe for public use.

Barnyard Banter: Picking and Packing, October 19
  • Fort Christmas Historical Park's FREE Barnyard Banter Historical and Educational Programs are suitable for all ages! On Saturday, October 19, 1-2 p.m., come to the park for Picking and packing, all about the citrus industry. If participants do any hands-on activities, those activities are limited to ages 6 years and older for the safety of participants. This is a FREE program, open to the public. Questions?     On the third Saturday of each month, a program is offered for free and is open to the public. Parents and children or grandparents and grandchildren will enjoy learning together about how things were done in the past. Schedule date or class subject matter may change without notice due to weather, speaker availability or other unforeseen circumstance.

To make a reservation, please call the park directly at 407-254-9310; leave a detailed message if you reach voicemail. Please note that Orange County Parks and Recreation requires 30 days or more to schedule and complete payment and paperwork for all rentals.

With the exception of ADA service animals, no pets are permitted in Fort Christmas Historical Park. Alcohol is prohibited in the park.

Tours and Special Events

  • The historic homes, school and fort are open daily, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., including holidays.
  • The park includes a replica of a fort built in 1837 during the Second Seminole Indian War; a traditional Florida "Cracker" house and eight pioneer homes; a schoolhouse and lunchroom; a sugar cane mill and other historical farming equipment.
